Ingwe hitmaker Anele Zondo, now as Ney pairs up with Nadia ‘Bragga’ Nakai for “Thick Slim.” These rappers share sex appeal, confidence, fashion taste, and musical styles together. It’s a match made in heaven with this new single.
The creative artwork displays Nadia Nakai and Anele Ney Zondo side by side, with black cables connected to different sections of their bodies. It is an interesting-looking cover art. This isn’t surprising, since both female rappers take time with their craft regarding visuals, looks, and so on. Hopefully, the music video will explain the cover art. As it looks like these are shots from the music video.
“Thick Slim” is distributed by Hampton Group and written by Anele ‘Ney’ Zondo, Nadia Nakai, Glody Kasongo, and Kyle Brown.
The Single Review
The single starts off with thudding, and drub sounds paired with “ah ah uuh-uuh” ad-libs possibly from Ney. Nadia Nakai jumps in 5 seconds into the beat,
“Fake b*tches in the trap/big booties where they at/ who tryna get lit?”
I love Nadia’s belligerent tone in this delivery; she masters it so well. It mingles with the thumping beat. As she continues with her rapping, Anele ‘Ney’ slings in her low-tone ad-libs. It’s a beautiful marriage when she does that.
Ney drops in with a hook and matches Nadia’s combative tone. She says,
“Slick b*tches on the trap/small booties where they at/always tryna get lit/get lit broke nigga sit”
Bragga reciprocates the energy Ney brought when she was going in on her verse. Anele Zondo cleans up the hook and dives into her verse,
“Bathi nango my type my type/my size my height my my/ what a lie”
Here Anele ‘Ney’ Zondo drops her tone and switches to her mother tongue, Zulu. Then her rugged tone interrupts for the hook. How she does the interchange is smooth because it still feels like it’s part of her verse.
But wait…as you listen, Nadia Nakai and Anele ‘Ney’ Zondo go back and forth on the hook. It’s such a good change. Thick Slim is a powerful track and gives homage to slender, thick slim ladies worldwide. They may not be as voluptuous as the tiny waist, big booty ladies, but they can hold their own and make their money. Ney and Bragga proved it, and I bet for the visuals it’ll be obvious.
Who’s verse had you screaming between the two ladies? Listen to Thick Slim here.
