Bronx female rapper, Ki Storii just dropped visuals to her single ‘Shawty Lo‘ which was released back in November 2022. Should I be one of the few to say it loud? Alright. Ki is up next in the female rap game. The potential she possesses is enough to take her far in the industry. Though being a New Yorker is proof, she’ll push harder than other rookies in the game currently.
‘Shawty Lo’ is a fun, upbeat, and club banger track. The potential hit song stands at 3.7K views on YouTube in just 24 hours of its release. Ki channels her favorite female rap inspirations to produce a femme-forward banger. The track relays a message about being the life of the party, and how easily she is a magnet to guys flocking to her as she turns up with friends at a club.
The theme and structure of ‘Shawty Lo’ draw inspiration from the explosive hit show ‘P-Valley’ which is said to be one of Ki Storii’s favorite tv shows. From the beginning stages of concept generation, to ideas being thrown around back and forth led to Ki reaching out to Cheek The Profit to tie up the song with a solid hook. In the final stages of polishing up the song, was then Ki Storri decided to add a clever reference into her witty lyrics bearing to Only Fans.
“These niggas out here asking for an Only Fans page
Hahahha…no
Now turn around and put it on him”
Aside from that interpolation. I loved she stuck to her rap nature by sticking in a few shrewd bars to keep the whole song interesting and packed with layers left to peel off by the listener. See what she says on her second verse,
“Talk my shit I’m Fine Fine
I’m LeBron with the Heat
I’m D Rose in his prime
Now tune into Storii time
Junk in the trunk badounka dunk”
I absolutely loved how she liberated those lines, that raw cadence meshed well with her delivery. Shawty Lo is my kind of track and will fit into my bad bitch playlist.
