A “baddie” can be defined in many ways. She has worked hard for where she is. She is the one everyone wants, she owns her sexual power, and she is downright unstoppable. One of the seemingly overlooked traits of being a baddie, however, is knowing how to set boundaries. So, Erica Banks came to set the story straight. Warner Records signed Erica Banks to start her career in 2018 and has since released 5 mixtapes, 9 singles, and 1 EP, and she dropped her first studio album on June 17, 2022.
Her latest single, “Ain’t Got Time,” released on April 7, 2023, was produced by Mr. Hanky, and provides a poppy yet laid-back tone with an early 2000’s vibe. Mr. Hanky is a highly versatile producer who has worked with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Gucci Mane but also enjoys following wherever the current mood takes him, producing gospel and R&B as well. The two previously worked together on the “Oh Yeah (Remix)” by Freaky Blvd, which was released in late 2021.
“Ain’t Got Time” starts with a snappy chorus to set the tone of the song:
When ya bitch don’t hit back quick don’t call
I ain’t got time
If I tell you I’ma come, you don’t see me in the club
I ain’t got time
I don’t wanna be ya bitch
Banks is no one’s fallback, she “ain’t got time” for that, and comes right out the gate with that hard fact. Despite the soulful crooning of the chorus, Banks comes through with hard-hitting bars in all of the song’s verses.

“Ain’t Got Time” fits in with the likes of “In Ha Mood” by Ice Spice, and “Single Ladies” by Beyonce. Banks even makes a reference to Queen B with the line:
Big boss thick ass I’m scandalous (Grr)
Beyoncé, can he handle this? I don’t think he can handle this
Which is a direct shout-out to “Bootylicious,” by the iconic trio Destiny’s Child. Overall, I am absolutely in love with this new track by Banks. The messaging is powerful, the bars are on point, and between the snappy beat and catchy lyrics, “Ain’t Got Time” is quick to stick in your head. I highly recommend this song for any woman needing an extra boost of “Goddess Energy” in their day, because everybody deserves to proclaim that they “ain’t got time” for the BS that life can bring.
