Rapper Quavo will send off his late nephew, TakeOff, with a planned performance at the upcoming Grammy awards this weekend.
The Recording Academy will include TakeOff in the “In Memoriam” segment of the award ceremony, where Quavo will perform alongside choral singers. The performance will be led by Quavo’s “Without You” dedicated to his late nephew.
The track is a letter to TakeOff following the shooting that led to his unfortunate death. In “Without You”, Quavo seems to reminisce on the good times they shared since childhood and his recent loneliness without him.
“I don’t know if I’m the same without you (Nah, I’m ain’t the same)
Remember the days we smoked big blunts together?
Remember the days we rocked out Coachella? (Them days)”
The tribute is set to shed light on gun and gang violence.
