Megan Thee Stallion proclaims she wants to bring real b*tches back on her brand new album, Traumazine!
The Texas-born rapper released her latest project which signals the end of her contract with the 1501 record label. Traumazine’s release wasn’t smooth, and the word was spread of it allegedly being leaked ahead of schedule. She was also arguing back and forth with label exec, Carl Crawford.
This release comes off the heels of her previous project ‘Something For The Hotties.’ It was moderately received and garnered just under 40,000 first-week sales.
Does Traumazine match up to its unique name?
“B*tch, you do you whatever that is, I’ma do it better
Hoes must’ve just seen me and they playin’ catch-up…”
Those lyrics from the song ‘Her,’ indicate the energy she exudes throughout the entire project. Traumazine is Megan’s most ambitious sounding project to date. She explores different sounds, flows, and artistic approaches with each song meanwhile maintaining her signature sound.
Megan’s varied and ambitious approaches to exploring different sounds in her album should be commended.
Traumazine has songs that feel like they’re only there to fulfill a certain “quota.” There are some songs that have features that don’t contribute artistically. ‘Who Me’, ‘Red Wine’, and ‘NDA’ don’t really have much replay value.
Megan’s strengths lie in her cadence and lyricism. She has quite a few tracks that truly stand out: ‘NDA’, ‘Me’, ‘Anxiety’, ‘Consistency’, and ‘Plan B’.
She spoke on relevant topics involving her mother, money, haters; her being shot, and ongoing legal battles.
Traumazine earns a 4/5-star rating. It has a lot of replay value and possesses great lyrical content.
Did you enjoy Traumazine, and how would you rate it?
