This deal is a great opportunity for both Minaj and Maxim, as Maxim has stated:
“Minaj, who categorically disrupted the male-dominated industry of rap music, is doing the same with sports betting by bringing her style and ethos to MaximBet to illustrate the lifestyle components of the brand while vastly broadening it’s audience, including inviting more women into the fold.”
MaximBet is a brand associated with sports betting and iGaming that launched just last year after its owners and operators Carousel Group partnered up with the international media company Maxim. Minaj’s roles in this deal include being the new creative director of Maxim Magazine, a special advisor to the MaximBet Board of Directors, as well as assisting in the company’s plans for iGaming.
To sum it all up, according to Maxim, “Minaj will work with MaximBet on merchandise, parties, partnerships, fan experiences and branding, all designed to bring together entertainment, sports, celebrities, and betting.”
Minaj seems like the perfect fit as she is notorious for her business savvy side, which has had an undeniably impressive impact throughout the years. Since the beginning of her career, all eyes have been on her as she has always stepped outside the box and created trends while she established her brand along the way.
We see the proof of her impact in her many collaborations, one being with Fendi back in 2019 in which her capsule collection sold out everywhere as she re-sparked popularity in Fendi’s logo prints with the help of her song “Chun-Li.” Not to mention earlier this year, she contributed to a 4900% increase in pink Croc sales just by posting a picture in them, so her influence is prominent even when it’s not intended. MaximBet CEO Daniel Gretzer even stated,
“Nicki is best known around the world as a superstar, but we know her as a brilliant business woman. Her role as a strategic advisor to MaximBet will be invaluable to us. She’s built one of the most powerful brands in the world, her own, and she’s applying the same savvy and creativity to our sports betting brand.”
It’s also no surprise that Minaj is taking on these roles considering the mogul plans she intends for herself, as discussed in an interview with Joe Budden back in March.
“In my opinion the female rappers before me I would always say they should’ve retired as moguls…I would say why isn’t there a female version of Jay Z?…so I was like I’m gonna be
that person, I’m gonna do that.”
She continued on to say,
“I haven’t done what I want to do, what I need to do, what I will do…I’m talking about full out mogul.” So even with being over 10 years into her career, and having signified her brand and herself as a rap legend, Minaj doesn’t plan to slow down soon. This mindset she carries is extremely influential and contagious, especially for the young women that look up to her. Minaj even stated after the announcement, “I’m ready to fully step into my potential as a young, influential Queen, and owner and open doors for others to dream big.”
Minaj has undoubtedly ignited an immense amount of potential for MaximBet and the brand’s growth will certainly speed up after this deal. Sardar Biglari of Maxim said, “We are thrilled to partner with Nicki Minaj. She is an extraordinary entrepreneur and the leading artist of her generation, a combination that will be transformative for Maxim.” Now with the support of her loyal fan base along with her business savvy moves, it is just a matter of time before we witness the impact Minaj will leave on this brand.
