‘Black Wall Street’ – Killumantii
Killumantii’s ‘Black Wall Street’, which was initially a freestyle, first came out last Summer (2021) and the Rapper released the full audio and visual in March. If you don’t know about the history of Black Wall Street – take this as your time to learn, and give Killumantii her credit for bringing such an elevated message.
The symbolism of Black Wall Street – both visually in the video and sonically with the powerful bars about black wealth – shows that Big Kill does indeed – do Big Sh*t.
‘Standards’ – Kali
Kali’s ‘Standards’ is a defiant ladies-first anthem from her recent ‘Toxic Chocolate‘ project released in March where Kali speaks on dealing with toxic situationships. In the track she asks: “how you 27 and grown but you’re acting childish?” – a question that far too many women in their 20s are asking of the men they are involved with. It’s an important message and Kali is representing for the ladies all throughout the tape.
‘LONDON’ (feat. J. Cole) – BIA
BIA’s ‘London’ sees her linking up with J Cole, hot off the heels of her collaboration with another Hip Hop Heavyweight Nicki Minaj. So far BIA has proven herself to be unstoppable and building a brand that in my opinion, will last for years. ‘London’ is fun and it’s great to hear her and Cole trying out a British accent. I am somewhat furious and jealous that BIA was in my neighbourhood of Shoreditch without giving me a video cameo, but at least UK Rapper Unknown T got to be involved.
‘We Go Up’ (feat. Fivio Foreign) – Extended – Nicki Minaj
The music video for ‘We Go Up’ reached one million views in 12 hours and was a masterclass in New York Rapper flexing. Nicki skated on this song which was already a hot release, but with Nicki confirming Republic Records are getting behind the song may be a smash hit with due time.
These btch grouchy like Oscar up out the trash can. 😑😅🤣 #WeGoUp is a 5 min video!!!!!great from beginning to END. Song been out for WEEKS with no backing from a label & no video. Thats about to change. #Barbz Love youuuuuuuuuuuu 😆😘 https://t.co/Y0uwvVRUrz
